RYAN O’NEAL ADDRESSES OSCARS FARRAH FAWCETT SNUB 2010
It was a great night for women as embodied by Kathryn Bigelow‘s historic win for best director last night at the Oscars. Not such a good night for Farrah Fawcett‘s friends and family though, who witnessed their friend, get snubbed in the Academy’s In Memorandum scetion of the evening. It really did bring on the question of ‘why?’ for most viewers.
Ryan O’Neal tells Radar Online: “It was a terrible decision and very hurtful,” O’Neal said. “Farrah was a member of the Academy for over 40 years and we could not believe she did not get a mention.” Patrick Swayze, Michael Jackson and Brittany Murphy were included in the segment.
Bea Arthur of The Golden Girls fame also got snubbed too. Amazing. It just goes to show, that you can serve a town, like Hollywood your whole life as an entertainer… and yet there’s no guarantee, your peers will remember you. The courageous and free-spirited Farrah was still raising cancer awareness from Hollywood right up until the day she died. Young actors, take note. :)
