KATHRYN BIGELOW HISTORIC BEST DIRECTOR OSCARS ACCEPTANCE SPEECH
After Barbara Streisand announced, “the moment has come,” Kathryn Bigelow described her historic win, for best director, for The Hurt Locker as being, “the moment of a lifetime,” and she dedicated her moment in history, to all the men and women who serve in war.
Her story is one of remaining sweet, developing your talents while enduring in Hollywood. This adds the grain to one’s character, in a way, that to fly in and out of LA life like a tourist, and not live here, would not give this same grain and texture to a storyteller of the screen. Hollywood is a tough school, but Bigelow is the victor of her gruelling training ground today. Her story is that when you overcome the “allusion of love” (something that Hollywood constantly toys with offering); and find love within yourself–the world is yours to then have a vital message for. Top of the Class.
What a win for not only women, but all of us in the world. First female director Oscar winner ever. Wow! We all must have been asleep with our eyes closed, for 82 years here in Hollywood. Not any more! Congrats honey. :)
