JON GOSSELIN IS A FREE MAN AS HE FILES FOR DIVORCE FROM KATE

The reality-TV stars, Jon Gosselin and Kate Gosselin have filed for divocrce after 10 years of marriage on Monday afternoon in Reading, Pa., People reports.

The Bucks County Courthouse announced the information.

“Parents of multiples have triple the divorce rate,” Kate once said during the record-setting season premiere. “I was thinking we were going to beat that. I don’t know if I can say that anymore.” It’s sad, but Kate got the fame she planned for having multiples, so the marriage is  done with. At least Jon Gosselin can smile a bit more. But what about the issue of child support?

Leslie Gornstein offers an interesting account into the issue of Child  Support Payments for Jon Gosselin if Kate Gosselin gets awarded custody of the children. Gornstein reporting on the issue stats this:

“In most states, the law puts a cap on the percentage of Jon’s wages—around 40 to 50 percent—that he must pay in child support. The percentage for the first kid is usually 20 percent, and then it goes down from there with each subsequent spawn.

“It’s a sliding scale, the more children you have,” family law attorney Jennifer C. Smetters explains.

In the case of Jon and Kate, the percentage would probably cap off before we got down to kid number six.

“There’s only so much support that someone can give,” divorce attorney Joshua Forman tells me. “The law has to give him the incentive to work. Otherwise he might think, ‘You’re taking 90 percent of my salary? Forget this.’ ”

However, things might change if Jon, say, got a seven-figure deal to pen a tell-all book. In that case, his income would be so high that a good family lawyer would argue that—at least temporarily—he pay a lower percentage of his income in support.

And I have no doubt that, if this drama continues, there will be a tell-all book. Or maybe 10 tell-all books, one for each Gosselin.”

Nice one Leslie! And although divorce is not an easy road, or necessarily an ideal road by any means, it’s nice to know that Jon Gosselin is no longer a victim of Kate’s out of control manipulation and fame drunkedness! We wish both Kate Gosselin and Jon Gosselin the best with their new lives and providing the best upbringing for the Gosselin children.
