IS OPRAH “ABUSING HER INFLUENCE?” SHE SAYS “HELL NO!”
Newsweek Magazine has been lying on their blog that Oprah is abusing her influence by showcasing health professionals who don’t always offer good medical advice.
To give credence to their tabloid grabbing claims, Newsweek even strummed up an academic biologist, PZ Myers (Z for Z list!) who is an associate professor at the University of Minnesota and a blogger at ScienceBlogs:
It’s about time one of the big media players pointed out that she is promoting dangerous fake therapies…all with a happy smile, of course, and a message of positive self-esteem for women. It’s still credulous glop, though.
Today, US Weekly Magazine quotes Oprah’s reply to this claim, where the talk show queen says, Hell no!
OPRAH: “For 23 years, my show has presented thousands of topics that reflect the human experience, including doctors’ medical advice and personal health stories that have prompted conversations between our audience members and their health care providers. I trust the viewers, and I know that they are smart and discerning enough to seek out medical opinions to determine what may be best for them.
And there you have it. She’s enhancing audiences, not abusing them! [source]
And leave Oprah alone Newsweek. It’s bad enough she got whopped by Angelina Jolie at the #1 spot of the Celebrity Top 100 list, without you weighing in too! (See: ANGELINA JOLIE IS CROWNED FORBES #1 CELEBRITY IN THE WORLD)
Oprah has fallen to #2, after Angie! Ouch. And after presenting Barack Obama to the American people, as the new president too! That’s harsh!
